Etraveli Group AB is recruiting an **Applied AI Engineer** to join its AI Optimization team. The role focuses on serving as the technical driver for expanding the company’s agentic AI ecosystem. Core duties involve rapidly building, testing, and evaluating agentic MVPs using Python, APIs, and LLM frameworks, alongside spinning up supporting infrastructure like vector and relational databases. The position requires designing rigorous evaluation pipelines to benchmark accuracy, latency, hallucination rates, and ROI, assessing operational workflows for feasibility, and translating validated prototypes into technical specifications for the core platform team to scale into production. The employer operates a **hybrid work model** allowing two days per week from home, plus two weeks of remote work per year. Candidates must have at least **three years of software engineering experience** with strong Python and rapid prototyping skills, alongside hands-on experience in LLM orchestration, such as tool use, RAG, and structured outputs using frameworks like LangChain, LlamaIndex, LiteLLM, or direct APIs. Proficiency in API design, SQL, relational and vector databases, and evaluation frameworks like Ragas, DeepEval, or LangSmith is essential. Desirable backgrounds include experience as a forward-deployed engineer or solutions architect, familiarity with FastAPI and Docker, knowledge of travel tech or payments, and basic product management competence. The Role
As Etraveli Group rapidly expands its agentic AI ecosystem, we are looking for a hands-on engineer to serve as the core technical muscle for our AI Optimization team. In this role, you will rapidly build, test, and evaluate agentic MVPs using Python, APIs, and LLM frameworks. You will design rigorous evaluation pipelines to prove accuracy, latency, and ROI, ensuring all agents align with company principles. Once validated, you will act as the key technical stakeholder translating prototypes into clean specifications for our core Technology team to scale.
Responsibilities
Rapid Prototyping & MVP Engineering
- Build functional end-to-end agents using Python, LLM frameworks, APIs, and databases.
- Spin up infrastructure (vector/relational databases, docker containers) for real-world testing.
- Select architectural patterns (API wrappers, lightweight RAG, function calling).
- Iterate based on business feedback and discard when concepts prove unviable.
Data Rigor & Technical Evaluation
- Design evaluation pipelines to benchmark accuracy, hallucination rates, latency, and cost.
- Build ground-truth labeled evaluation sets with business owners to validate production readiness.
- Analyze discrepancies between agent outputs and human decisions during pilots.
- Support business stakeholders in taking responsibility for prompts and business logic.
- Continuously test new AI models and tools against internal benchmarks.
Feasibility & Technical Discovery
- Assess operational workflows with strategy teams to determine agentic feasibility and scope difficulty.
- Evaluate new agent architectures and AI tooling to recommend core platform adoption.
Handoff & Platform Stakeholder
- Serve as the primary technical stakeholder to the core technology AI platform team.
- Translate validated MVPs into clear technical specs, architecture diagrams, and data flows.
- Partner with AI platform team to ensure seamless absorption of MVP logic into internal SDKs.
Requirements
Must Have
- 3+ years software engineering experience with strong Python and rapid prototyping skills.
- Hands-on experience with LLM orchestration (tool use, RAG, structured outputs via LangChain, LlamaIndex, LiteLLM, or APIs).
- Proficiency in API design, SQL, and relational/vector databases.
- Experience using evaluation frameworks (Ragas, DeepEval, LangSmith) to benchmark performance.
- Agile, pragmatic mindset for fast experimentation outside traditional sprint cycles.
- Ability to convert complex business logic into concise specs for engineering teams.
Nice to Have
- Background as a Forward-Deployed Engineer, Solutions Architect, or similar fast-delivery role.
- Familiarity with modern deployment stacks (FastAPI, Docker, serverless).
- Domain experience in travel tech, airline distribution, or payments.
- Basic product management understanding (ROI tracking, KPIs, user validation).
