Axel Arigato is hiring a **Construction & Facilities Manager** for a full-time, 12-month parental leave cover based on-site at its central office in Gothenburg, Sweden, with an estimated start date in January 2027. The role oversees the planning, construction, refurbishment, and ongoing maintenance of the brand's physical spaces, including stores, showrooms, and pop-ups across US and European markets. Key responsibilities include leading projects from initial planning to close-out, managing schedules, budgets, risk mitigation, and quality control reports. The position also entails negotiating supplier, lease, and maintenance agreements, coordinating subcontractors and landlords, and overseeing both preventive and corrective maintenance alongside international facilities partners. Candidates should have a background in building and construction, demonstrated either through **PMP or similar training in construction or facilities management**, or through **5+ years of experience in retail construction or facilities management**. Practical experience leading a team or working in a comparable role is expected, alongside a solid grasp of commercial space maintenance and experience managing external service providers across multiple markets. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace is required, while familiarity with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Asana, and lean or agile methodologies is advantageous.
We’re looking for a Construction & Facilities Manager to plan, coordinate, and manage how Axel Arigato physical spaces are built, refurbished, and maintained - from stores to showrooms and pop-ups. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
This role suits someone who stays calm under pressure and is organized by default. You plan carefully, follow through, and keep contractors, landlords and colleagues aligned when timelines get tight. You’re comfortable managing external partners across several markets, you hold suppliers to a clear standard, and you look for ways to make each project run smoother than the last.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Own time schedules, RACI, budgets, labor and risk mitigation plans for every construction and refurbishment project.
- Lead projects from start to close-out, coordinating subcontractors and keeping landlords, contractors and internal stakeholders updated on progress.
- Review, adapt and execute lease, supplier and maintenance agreements through a transparent procurement process that reduces business risk.
- Run snag, punch and QC reports and follow up on execution, so every store opens to standard.
- Manage preventive and corrective maintenance with our facilities partners in the US and EU, tracking both performance and cost.
- Bring commercial design feedback into each project to keep store quality and customer experience consistent.
- Set and follow up department goals each quarter, making responsibilities clear and ensuring tools and resources to deliver.
- Partner with other departments to share knowledge and improve how we work together.
ARE YOU THE ONE?
We seek people with most of the following:
- A background in building and construction, through PMP or similar training in construction or facilities management, or 5+ years of experience in retail construction or facilities management.
- Experience leading a team or working in a similar role.
- A solid understanding of construction and maintenance requirements for commercial spaces.
- Experience managing external service providers across multiple markets.
- Strong time management and clear, confident verbal communication.
- A problem-solving mindset and the initiative to act on it.
- Familiarity with lean and/or agile ways of working.
- Confidence in Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, with AutoCAD, SketchUp or Asana as a plus.
