Control Systems Engineer

Marine Jet Power AB · Uppsala · Tills vidare · Deadline 2026-11-13

Marine Jet Power AB is hiring a full-time **Control Systems Engineer** based at its head office in Uppsala. Aimed at a junior engineer early in their career, the role focuses on control systems for waterjets, where software, PLCs, and HMIs interact directly with mechanical and hydraulic systems. Working alongside senior engineers, the position supports the development, maintenance, troubleshooting, and testing of current PLC- and HMI-based systems, assists in investigating field issues, and participates in developing the next-generation PC-based control system running Linux with Qt displays. The position also includes **opportunities to travel** internationally to visit global customers. Candidates must hold a **degree in software engineering, automation, mechatronics, electrical engineering, or a related field**, paired with a basic understanding of programming concepts and structured code. Proficiency in both Swedish and English is required, along with an interest in industrial control systems or embedded software and a willingness to work with existing codebases. Familiarity with PLC programming such as CODESYS, basic knowledge of industrial automation or control theory, and project or thesis experience involving automation or embedded systems are advantageous.

We are looking to expand our Swedish engineering team with a junior software / control systems engineer who is motivated to grow into a complex and specialized technical environment.

The role is focused on control systems for our waterjets, where software, PLCs, and HMIs interact closely with mechanical and hydraulic systems. You will work alongside experienced engineers and gradually take on more responsibility as your understanding of the systems grows.

Today, our systems are primarily based on PLC and HMI platforms, but we are currently developing our next-generation control system, which will be PC-based, running Linux, with Qt-based displays. This provides an opportunity to work with both established technologies and modern software platforms.

This position is well suited for someone early in their career who is curious, structured, and eager to learn how real-world control systems are built, maintained, and supported over long lifecycles.
