Data Engineer
Mentimeter AB (publ) · Stockholm · Tills vidare · Deadline 2026-11-24
Mentimeter is hiring a **Data Engineer** to join its Data Platform team in Stockholm. The position operates on a **hybrid schedule requiring at least three days a week on site** at the Stockholm office, without relocation sponsorship. In this role, the engineer helps design, build, and operate core data infrastructure, supporting the company's early-stage transition to an event-driven architecture. Responsibilities include managing streaming and batch data pipelines that reliably move and transform data at scale, defining how events are structured and evolved, ensuring data quality, consistency, and observability, and maintaining GDPR and PII compliance across organizational data flows. Candidates need **a few years of experience** as a data engineer or data-heavy backend engineer, alongside solid programming skills in tools such as SQL, Python, or JVM-based languages. Applicants must have practical experience building and maintaining data pipelines within a modern cloud data stack, managing infrastructure as code with tools like Terraform or similar, and working with streaming or near real-time data systems like Kafka or Flink. Clear written communication skills in English are required for cross-functional collaboration, while knowledge of Swedish is not required.
Modern data platforms are built on events - well-defined, trustworthy signals that describe how users interact with products and systems over time. As a Data Engineer you will help build and improve the data platform that powers analytics, growth, personalization and decision-making across the company.
This role is part of the Data Platform team, where we design and maintain the core data infrastructure that serves Product, Marketing, Growth, and Analytics. You will focus on the systems and infrastructure that supports transforming batch and streaming data into high-quality datasets that downstream systems - from warehouses to activation tools - can rely on.
We are currently in the early stages of building out a new event-driven architecture, and this role will be part of shaping it. That means owning parts of the streaming infrastructure, contributing to foundational decisions about how events are structured and evolved, and having real influence over how data flows across the company for years to come.
This is a hybrid/onsite role located in Stockholm, our guideline is to spend 3 days a week at our office.

- Ensure GDPR and PII compliance across data flows at scale.
- Contribute to data and architecture best practices that may span across the whole organisation.
