Randstad is recruiting a **Data Scientist & Molecular Biology Consultant** for a client in Uppsala. This full-time consultancy position runs from as soon as possible until April 30, 2027. Operating in a **hybrid lab and data analysis** capacity, the consultant bridges wet-lab experimentation with computational insights. Core duties include planning, executing, documenting, and reporting molecular biology experiments, troubleshooting protocols and reagents, and analyzing large datasets using R to generate clear visualizations. The role also involves collaborating across cross-functional departments and presenting conclusions to diverse project teams. Applicants must hold an **MSc, PhD, or equivalent** in molecular biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, or a related discipline. Mandatory qualifications include strong proficiency in R for data analysis and visualization, hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques—such as NGS, PCR/qPCR, or handling DNA, RNA, proteins, enzymes, or antibodies—and fluency in written and spoken English. Additional experience in SQL, Python, bioinformatics, statistical analysis tools, immunology, or proteomics is considered advantageous.
Job description
We are seeking an consultant to join our client in Uppsala for a hybrid lab and data analysis role. You will bridge bench science with data insights—performing molecular biology experiments and using R to analyze and visualize findings.

Key Qualifications
- MSc, PhD, or equivalent in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related field.
- Data Skills:
- Strong proficiency in R for analysis and data visualization.
- Advantageous: SQL, Python, bioinformatics, or statistical analysis tools.
- Lab Skills:
- Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques (e.g., NGS, PCR/qPCR, or working with DNA, RNA, proteins, enzymes, or antibodies).
- Advantageous: Background in immunology or proteomics.
- Core Competencies:
- Structured, analytical approach to experimental data and problem-solving.
- Ability to learn new lab techniques quickly.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
