Axis Communications is recruiting a **Device Infrastructure Engineer** based in Lund to join R&D Tools, a platform engineering team supporting AXIS OS development. In this role, the engineer helps maintain and evolve a critical shared testing and development environment comprising approximately 2,000 connected devices, over 100 network switches, and extensive physical infrastructure. Daily responsibilities involve a mix of developing scripts and workflows to automate manual operations, monitoring capacity needs, maintaining inventory records, and handling device lifecycles from purchasing to decommissioning. The position also includes **practical hands-on engineering**, such as coordinating with facilities, building shelving, cabling hardware, and expanding physical spaces to prepare for upcoming products. The role suits an independent, detail-oriented problem-solver who can navigate seamlessly between software, infrastructure, and physical setup. Our device infrastructure supports AXIS OS development and is used daily by hundreds of engineers. With approximately 2000 connected devices, more than 100 network switches and extensive physical infrastructure, it plays a critical role in development and testing across the organization.

Who is your future team?
You will join R&D Tools, a Platform Engineering team supporting AXIS OS development at Axis. Our mission is to make it easy for software teams to build, test, integrate and release AXIS OS, the Linux distribution that powers our products.
The device infrastructure is an important part of that mission. You will work closely with stakeholders across Axis to maintain and evolve a shared engineering environment.

What will you do?
You will take a leading role in the operation, development and long-term evolution of the device infrastructure.
This is a varied role combining automation, infrastructure, planning and practical hands-on work. One day you may be analyzing usage patterns or developing automation solutions, while the next you are preparing infrastructure for new products or planning an expansion of the infrastructure.
You will help shape the future direction of the device infrastructure by identifying improvements, driving automation initiatives and developing more scalable ways of operating the environment.
You will
- Maintain and improve the device infrastructure.
- Develop scripts, tools and workflows that automate manual tasks and simplify operations.
- Maintain accurate device and inventory information.
- Monitor usage and capacity needs.
- Manage device purchases and lifecycle management from onboarding to decommission.
- Collaborate with product teams to prepare for upcoming products.
- Define and improve processes and ways of working.
- Drive physical expansions, from coordinating with Facilities and electricians to building shelves, installing infrastructure, cabling devices and preparing new spaces.
- Collaborate with other departments sharing the facilities.
- Contribute expertise when new device infrastructure environments are planned.
