Hitachi Energy Sweden AB is hiring an **EMC Engineer - HF** within its HVDC business unit, primarily located in **Ludvika**, where on-site presence is strongly preferred. The role focuses on ensuring electromagnetic compatibility and robust performance for high voltage-high current DC transmission systems during standard operations, fast transients, and short circuits. Key responsibilities include modeling disturbance propagation, formulating EMC guidelines and instructions for civil designers in tenders and projects, participating in R&D activities, and performing international site inspections to verify proper installation. The position collaborates closely with specialists in RF emission simulations, electro-magnetic field modeling, and high-current grounding. Applicants must hold a **Master of Science degree** in an electrical field, applied physics, power systems, or a related discipline, alongside fluency in written and spoken English. Strong merits include prior experience within EMC, 3D high-frequency simulations, and the design of auxiliary power systems in HVDC or substation environments. In your work you will be part of HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) business unit that is a part of Hitachi Energy’s division and is located in Ludvika. The unit develops, manufactures and sells DC transmission systems on a global market. Hitachi Energy’s developed HVDC technology is used to transmit electricity over long distances and for power transmission via submarine cables, thus enabling stability, cooperation between grids, sea-based wind power and more.

How you’ll make an impact
- You use your EMC experience to ensure proper design and controlled performance during normal use, fast switching of a high voltage-high current system as well as during catastrophic events such as short circuits and the like.
The role includes:
- Continuous improvement of guidelines and processes related to your area
- Modelling propagation of disturbances in R&D and projects to deepen knowledge and ensure the right level of mitigations are used.
- Documenting instructions and requirements from an EMC perspective to civil designers and builders in tenders, projects.
- Performing inspections to ensure proper installations at our sites internationally
- Work together with experts in areas like RF emission simulations and studies, grounding of very high currents and electro-magnetic field simulations.
- Being part of R&D activities to make sure we stay competitive also for the future.
- In this role you will have a lot of opportunities to explore various technical fields. The department is active in several multiphysics areas in close cooperation with both electrical and mechanical functions.
Your background
- We are looking for a Master of Science degree in an electrical field, applied physics, power systems or similar.
- Experience from EMC area or 3D HF simulations are big merits.
- You have a keen interest in or understanding of mechanical aspects as well as electrical design.
- Experience in design of auxiliary power systems in HVDC or substation environment or other area where high currents is involved.
- Prior experience in any of the other technical areas is beneficial but not a demand, your personality and interest are of high importance.
- As a person you are a positive, problem-solving individual with the attitude that everything is possible to do in a team. You will work in a team where being able to take responsibility and willingness to learn are key features.
- A general interest in technology is needed to be a good fit for this position. The goal is to have cost-effective solutions while fulfilling all requirements why common sense and understanding of practical aspects is beneficial.
- You should ideally like working in a multicultural environment and be able to express yourself written and spoken in English.
