Excillum Aktiebolag is hiring a **Field Service Engineer** to be based in China or Taiwan, serving as their technical specialist across China, South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. Joining a global Service and Technical Support team, the engineer installs MetalJet and Nanotube X-ray systems, conducts preventive and corrective maintenance, leads technical customer training, manages RMA and warranty cases, and handles remote support. The position involves **extensive travel exceeding 150 days per year**, primarily in mainland China, alongside occasional trips to headquarters in Kista, Stockholm. Employment starts with a multi-month onboarding and training period alongside experienced engineers in Stockholm. Applicants must hold at least a **BSc in engineering, physics, or a related field**, or have acquired equivalent professional experience. A solid background of a few years as a field service engineer in high-tech industries—such as scientific instrumentation, metrology, semiconductors, medical devices, or industrial automation—is expected. Candidates must be able to travel to and work long-term in mainland China (for example, as a Chinese citizen or a Taiwanese citizen with free mainland travel) and have experience working with European companies or clients. **Fluency in Mandarin Chinese** is required, while Korean proficiency is an advantage.

We are now looking for a_Field Service Engineer_to be based in China or Taiwan and serve as our technical expertise presence on the ground in China and Southeast Asia.
About the role
As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for installations, training and service of our advanced_X-ray_systems at customer sites across China, South Korea, Japan and Taiwan. This is a unique opportunity to be Excillum's locally based specialist in the region, playing a key part in establishing our presence on the ground. You will be part of an experienced global Service and Technical Support team, with Field Service Engineers, System Specialists and Quality & Service Support, while working hands-on in the field, building strong relationships with customers and partners who depend on our technology.
This is a role for someone who genuinely thrives on the road. You will likely travel more than 150 days per year, and we are looking for a person who gets energy from exactly that, from being on-site, solving real technical challenges and representing Excillum in the world's most advanced technology environments.
You will begin with a thorough onboarding and product training at our headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden, during a couple of months working side by side with our existing Field Service Engineers. Initially, you will carry out joint customer visits with experienced colleagues before taking on the regional assignment.
Your responsibilities include:
- Installing Excillum MetalJet and Nanotube systems at customer sites
- Performing corrective and preventive maintenance in the field
- Conducting technical training at customer sites and at our headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden, when requested
- Handling_remote support_cases through e-mail, chats, and phone and documenting in our CRM system
- Managing RMA, warranty cases and spare parts orders
- Participating in and driving quarterly service review meetings with Asian OEM partners
About you
We believe you have a solid background as a_Field Service Engineer_within_high-tech_industries, with a few years of experience in a similar role. You have worked with European companies or customers and bring an understanding of how to operate across both European and Asian business cultures. You are fluent in_Mandarin Chinese_, which is a requirement, and Korean is considered a plus. You are able to travel to and work in mainland China on a long-term basis, for example as a_Chinese_citizen, or as a Taiwanese citizen with the ability to travel freely to and from the mainland.
You likely come from industries such as scientific instrumentation, metrology,_semiconductor_equipment, medical devices or industrial automation. You hold at least a BSc in engineering, physics or a related field, or have gained equivalent experience throughout your career.

Location and travel
The position can be based in China or Taiwan, with the majority of your working time spent in mainland China. Extensive travel across China, South Korea, Japan and Taiwan is expected, more than 150 days per year. Occasional travel to Excillum's headquarters in Kista, Stockholm is also part of the role.
