Surely Sci & Tech AB is seeking an **FMEA Expert** (R&D Risk Facilitator) based in Gothenburg, Sweden, with a start date as soon as possible. Working **100% on-site**, the role serves as the subject matter expert across automotive research and development projects. Key responsibilities include owning and standardising the FMEA process, guiding engineering teams through System, Function, and Design risk assessments, and leading the implementation and configuration of digital FMEA tools. The position also involves monitoring project FMEA progress, delivering introductory to advanced training, supporting audit reviews, and ensuring alignment with quality standards and certification frameworks. Candidates must bring expert knowledge of FMEA methodologies, particularly **AIAG-VDA methodology**, alongside strong theoretical and practical risk management experience. The role requires an understanding of systems engineering, requirements management and traceability, FMEA tool configuration, and quality standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and IATF. Applicants need R&D engineering background with knowledge of internal combustion engine and hybrid powertrains, proven technical training experience, and proficiency in English. Experience working across multiple automotive OEMs or suppliers, familiarity with range extender systems or electric machines, and previous implementation of requirements management systems are considered meritorious.

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲

We are looking for an experienced R&D Risk Facilitator / FMEA Expert to lead risk assessment methodologies, FMEA processes, and tool implementation within an automotive R&D environment.

The successful candidate will act as the subject matter expert for System, Function, and Design FMEAs, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, consistent ways of working, and high-quality risk assessments across engineering projects.

This is a key expert role involving methodology ownership, stakeholder coordination, training, requirements management, and the implementation of digital FMEA tools.

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀

▪️ Own and maintain the FMEA process across Research & Development.

▪️ Facilitate and guide engineering teams in conducting high-quality risk assessments.

▪️ Lead the implementation and configuration of FMEA tools, including requirements definition, processes, and digital user acceptance testing (UAT).

▪️ Ensure alignment with AIAG-VDA methodology and evolving customer requirements.

▪️ Monitor FMEA status across projects and ensure timely, standardized completion.

▪️ Manage System, Function, and Design FMEAs within R&D.

▪️ Develop and deliver FMEA training, from introductory sessions to advanced technical training.

▪️ Act as the R&D subject matter expert for risk management and requirements management.

▪️ Support engineering teams with critical FMEA issues and provide guidance during audits and project reviews.

▪️ Ensure traceability, process consistency, and alignment with relevant quality standards and certification requirements.

▪️ Coordinate stakeholders across engineering and other functions to drive continuous improvement.

𝗥𝗲q𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀

✅ Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of risk management and System, Function, and Design FMEAs.

✅ Expert knowledge of FMEA methodologies, particularly AIAG-VDA.

✅ Strong understanding of Requirements Management and Systems Engineering.

✅ Previous experience in FMEA tool configuration and implementation.

✅ Experience working in R&D and engineering environments.

✅ Knowledge of internal combustion engine (ICE) and hybrid powertrain systems.

✅ Understanding of requirements traceability and quality standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and IATF.

✅ Experience developing training materials and delivering technical training.

✅ Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.

✅ Self-driven, proactive, analytical, and comfortable managing multiple initiatives simultaneously.

✅ Proficiency in English.

▪️ Experience working with automotive OEMs and suppliers beyond a single organization.

▪️ Basic engineering knowledge of range extender (REX) systems, electric machines, and other powertrain technologies.

▪️ Experience implementing a new Requirements Management System within an OEM or supplier environment.
