Geophysicist within exploration

Luossavaara-Kiirunavaara Aktiebolag · Kiruna · Tills vidare · Deadline 2026-11-07

Luossavaara-Kiirunavaara Aktiebolag (LKAB) is seeking a **geophysicist within exploration** for a permanent, full-time position based in Kiruna, working daytime hours Monday through Friday. Bridging practical operations and analytical modelling, the role naturally follows the seasons: summer periods focus on **dynamic fieldwork and ground data acquisition** across active exploration sites, while winter months are dedicated to multidisciplinary data processing, 3D modelling, interpretation, and refining geological models. The position involves collaborating closely with geologists, field technicians, and specialists across mining and geotechnical operations to optimize drilling programs and advance mineral exploration initiatives. Applicants must hold a **higher university degree in geophysics** with a strong background in physics, good spoken and written English, and a valid manual transmission B driving licence. Several years of mineral exploration experience is preferred, though all candidates are assessed on overall qualifications. Desirable assets include experience with industry-standard software—such as Oasis montaj, Mira Geoscience, Leapfrog Geo, Maxwell, ModelVision, or GeoTools—along with practical or theoretical experience in electromagnetic methods, particularly Magnetotellurics (MT/AMT). Proficiency in Swedish or a willingness to learn is also advantageous, with language support and relocation assistance provided for applicants relocating to Sweden.

Combine geophysical analysis with hands-on fieldwork and contribute to mineral exploration in a varied role with excellent opportunities to grow.
