Ericsson AB is recruiting a **Junior Cloud RAN Layer 1 SW Developer** to help build performance-critical software powering 5G and next-generation mobile networks. Working alongside experienced engineers and global teams, the developer will build and maintain software components on the Cloud RAN Layer 1 platform using **modern C++** and AI-assisted workflows. Daily duties include feature development, testing, debugging, code reviews, and continuous integration, alongside exploring and prototyping AI/ML-enabled product features and physical layer processing for 5G and future 6G radio systems. Applicants should be recent or upcoming university graduates in **computer science, electrical engineering, engineering physics**, embedded systems, telecommunications, or a related field. Required competencies include programming experience in C/C++, Python, or Julia, practical exposure to Python through studies, thesis, or personal projects, and a foundational understanding of AI/ML concepts. Candidates must also have experience with Linux development environments, Git, unit testing, or CI/CD pipelines, supported by good communication skills in English. Previous professional telecom or Layer 1 experience is not required.

What you will do
- Develop and maintain software in Ericsson's Cloud RAN Layer 1 platform.
- Use AI-assisted engineering workflows to support activities such as developing code, test creation, debugging, documentation, and code review.
- Work with modern C++ and performance-critical software components.
- Learn how 5G/6G radio systems and physical layer processing work.
- Participate in feature development, debugging, testing, code reviews, and continuous integration activities.
- Collaborate with software developers, architects, system engineers, and testers across global teams.
- Contribute to software quality, test coverage, maintainability, and continuous improvement.
- Explore and contribute to AI/ML-enabled features that may be implemented in the product, including prototyping, integration, testing, and evaluation together with experienced engineers.
- Grow your technical skills through mentorship, feedback, and hands-on experience.
The skills you bring
- Programming experience in C/C++, Python, Julia.
- Foundational understanding of AI and machine learning concepts.
- Practical experience using Python for data processing, experimentation, or machine learning through university coursework, thesis work, or personal projects.
- Experience with Linux development environments, Git, unit testing, CI/CD, or cloud-native technologies.
- Basic understanding of 5G, mobile networks, physical layer processing, or 3GPP concepts.
- Ability to use AI-assisted development tools critically and responsibly.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Interest in software engineering, high-performance systems, and telecommunications.
- Good communication skills in English.
