Junior Data Engineer

Nextory AB is hiring a **Junior Data Engineer** to join its central data team in Stockholm. Working closely with technical teams and business stakeholders, the position helps build and maintain the company's data platform and the data foundations powering modern AI products. Responsibilities include supporting data ingestion and pipeline maintenance with tools like Airbyte and Dataform, writing and maintaining basic SQL transformations, building data quality checks, documenting metrics, supporting the semantic layer in Omni, and investigating data issues. The role operates under a **four-day office presence** model with Wednesdays as a remote work day, and includes a six-month probationary period. Relocation support is not provided. Applicants should hold a **degree or recently completed studies** in computer science, data science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, information systems, or a related field. Requirements include some knowledge of SQL, basic programming experience (preferably in Python), and a strong interest in databases, data modeling, analytics, and AI-driven solutions. Prior exposure through projects or internships to version control, BI tools, data modeling concepts, or platforms like BigQuery, Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, and Omni is considered advantageous, though the primary focus is on learning potential.

Let us tell you about the role 📖 As a Junior Data Engineer, you’ll be a part of our central data team and collaborate closely with both technical teams and business stakeholders to build and improve our data platform. You’ll play an important role in building the data foundations behind modern AI products and intelligent agents while exploring how AI systems interact with and make use of data in real-world applications.
In this role, you’ll also
- Support data ingestion and pipeline maintenance using tools such as Airbyte and Dataform
- Write and maintain basic SQL transformations, data models, and data quality checks
- Help structure and document data models, metrics, and business definitions
- Support the development of the semantic layer in Omni
- Investigate data issues and help ensure data is accurate, reliable, and easy to use
Your story so far 👀 We are looking for someone who is structured and takes ownership of their work. We believe you are self-driven, communicative and comfortable collaborating with both technical teams and stakeholders. You value quality, enjoy learning and understand the importance of strong foundations when building scalable and reliable data solutions.
Furthermore, we believe you have:
- A degree or recently completed studies in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Systems, or a related field
- Some knowledge of SQL
- Basic programming experience, preferably in Python
- An interest in databases, data modeling, analytics, and modern data platforms
- Curiosity about semantic layers, metrics, information modeling, and AI-driven data solutions
You might have experience with some of the following areas, but don’t worry if you don’t, we’re more interested in your overall potential and willingness to learn.
- School projects, internships, thesis work, or personal projects involving data
- Data modeling concepts such as facts, dimensions, entities, relationships, or star schema
- Tools such as Omni, dbt, LookML, Cube, BigQuery, Snowflake, Airflow, or similar
- Git or other version control tools
- BI tools such as Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or simila
