Veritaz is seeking an experienced **Kafka Platform Engineer** to design, deploy, and maintain multi-cluster, multi-region Apache Kafka environments using Strimzi on Kubernetes and enterprise HiveMQ brokers. The role involves managing upgrades, patching, vulnerability remediation, and Schema Registries, as well as optimizing topics, partitions, and storage. Key duties include designing high-availability and disaster recovery architectures, implementing security protocols like mTLS and OAuth/OIDC, and building observability dashboards with Prometheus and Grafana. The position carries **operational responsibility**, including root-cause analysis, Tier 3 production support, CI/CD pipeline automation, and advising development teams on Kafka configurations. Candidates must have **4–6 years of experience** with Apache Kafka, Strimzi, Kafka Connect API, and KRaft, alongside 4–6 years with Java and Spring Boot. Strong experience with Azure Kubernetes Service, PostgreSQL, Linux, CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions and ArgoCD, and infrastructure automation using Terraform and Helm is required. Familiarity with HiveMQ or MQTT brokers, robust knowledge of Kafka administration and security, and good English communication skills are essential. We are looking for an experienced Kafka Platform Engineer
What You Will Work On
- Design, deploy, and maintain multi-cluster, multi-region Apache Kafka environments using Strimzi on Kubernetes and enterprise HiveMQ brokers.
- Manage Kafka, Strimzi, and HiveMQ upgrades, patching, and vulnerability remediation.
- Develop and maintain Kafka Connect source and sink connectors.
- Optimise Kafka partitions, topics, retention, compaction, storage, and resource allocation.
- Design high-availability, disaster recovery, cross-region replication, and automated failover solutions.
- Manage Schema Registries for Avro, Protobuf, and JSON Schema.
- Implement platform security using Kafka ACLs, SASL, mTLS, OAuth/OIDC, and RBAC.
- Configure traffic routing, ingress layers, and messaging platform access.
- Build monitoring, dashboards, and alerts using Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, and Fluent Bit.
- Perform root cause analysis, troubleshoot production incidents, and provide Tier 3 support.
- Advise Java and Spring Boot teams on Kafka producer and consumer configurations.
- Develop reusable CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and ArgoCD.
- Automate infrastructure using Helm, Terraform, and KEDA.
- Improve developer self-service tooling, documentation, and platform provisioning processes.
- Handle platform-level incident, problem, and change management.
What You Bring
- 4–6 years of experience with Apache Kafka, Strimzi, Kafka Connect API, and KRaft.
- 4–6 years of experience with Java and Spring Boot.
- Strong experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Experience with PostgreSQL and Linux, including WSL.
- Experience with GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, and CI/CD automation.
- Knowledge of Splunk, Fluent Bit, and Helm.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, such as Terraform.
- Strong understanding of Kafka platform administration, performance, and security.
- Experience with HiveMQ or MQTT brokers.
- Strong problem-solving skills, a humble attitude, and comfort with operational responsibility.
- Good English communication skills.
