The Royal Swedish Opera is recruiting a **Tenor 1** to join its 48-member professional chorus. The position involves performing across the vast majority of the house's opera productions throughout the season. This is a **full-time, permanent employment** starting on 1 July 2027 or by agreement, preceded by a one-year probationary period. Applicants are expected to have an **education in music or postgraduate studies in opera**, while prior experience as an opera chorus singer is desirable. Good proficiency in either Swedish or English is required; candidates who do not speak Swedish are expected to learn. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an audition in February 2027 that includes a mandatory aria, an aria of choice in a contrasting style and language, sight-reading, chorus excerpts, ensemble singing, and stagecraft.

The Chorus of the Royal Swedish Opera is Sweden’s largest professional chorus and one of the oldest in the world, founded in 1773. The chorus consists of 48 full-time choristers who take part in the vast majority of all opera productions, which are performed throughout the season.
The position
Tenor 1, full-time, permanent employment with probationary year commencing the 1st of July 2027 or by agreement.
Your profile
Details of education in music or postgraduate studies in opera are requested, and further details of experience as a member of an opera chorus are desirable.
You should have a good proficiency in either English or Swedish. If you cannot currently speak Swedish you are expected to learn.
Audition
The Audition will take place on Sunday the 27th of February 2027, by invitation and upon review of applications.

Tenor 1
Un aura amorosa (Così fan tutte)
Che gelida manina (La Bohème)
Pourqoui me reveiller (Werther)
One aria of your own choice in contrasting language and style to that of the mandatory aria.
The audition will also involve tests in sight-reading, chorus excerpts, stagecraft and an ensemble test.
The chorus excerpts and ensembles will be sent after invitation.
