Academic Work is recruiting a **.NET / WPF Developer** for a client modernizing a biometric software platform. Working as a senior developer alongside UI specialists, the role focuses on **hands-on modernization of a complex, hardware-integrated desktop platform**. Daily tasks include developing new features in C# and WPF, refactoring the codebase to improve configurability and reduce technical debt, integrating REST APIs and external biometric hardware, and building automated unit and integration tests. The developer will also apply AI-assisted engineering practices for codebase analysis and troubleshooting while mentoring and guiding peers in these workflows. Candidates must have at least **three years of relevant experience** with advanced knowledge of .NET and C#, strong experience in WPF desktop UI development, and a background in hardware-integrated systems. Essential requirements also include proven experience in software architecture, legacy code modernization, REST API integration, automated testing, NuGet dependency management, and Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, alongside professional proficiency in English. Professional proficiency in Swedish and familiarity with AI-assisted engineering practices are considered advantageous qualifications. The recruitment process includes both a personality test and a cognitive test.

Work tasks
This role involves hands-on development to modernize a .NET/WPF platform, integrating biometric hardware, improving architecture, and mentoring the team in AI-assisted development practices.
- Develop and implement new features using C# and WPF for a the clients application.
- Modernize the established codebase to improve configurability, testability, and maintainability.
- Collaborate on architectural improvements and refactoring to reduce technical debt.
- Integrate REST APIs and external hardware components into the software platform.
- Apply AI-assisted engineering practices for codebase analysis, refactoring, and troubleshooting.
- Create and maintain automated unit and integration tests.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and knowledge sharing to team colleagues.
We are looking for
- 3+ years of relevant work experience
- Advanced knowledge of .NET and C# development
- Strong experience in WPF and desktop UI development
- Experience with complex, hardware-integrated applications
- Proven experience in software architecture, refactoring, and modernizing legacy code
- Experience with REST APIs and integration with external components
