Telge Consulting AB is recruiting two full-time **Platform Engineers for its Integration Competence Centre (ICC)** to work within a large enterprise environment in Sweden. The positions operate under an end-to-end **"you build it – you run it" approach**, combining platform engineering, DevOps, automation, and operational ownership for business-critical integration platforms. Core responsibilities include designing, deploying, and maintaining Apache Kafka environments on Kubernetes using Strimzi or similar operators, administering enterprise HiveMQ MQTT brokers, managing cluster resources and security, and supporting Java/Spring Boot development teams with integration patterns and self-service automation. The work also involves maintaining CI/CD pipelines, handling Infrastructure as Code, troubleshooting complex production incidents, and providing Tier 3 platform support. Candidates must have 4–6 years of professional experience with **Apache Kafka**—including platform administration, Kafka Connect, and KRaft—alongside 4–6 years of experience with **Java and Spring Boot**. Strong experience with Kubernetes (preferably AKS) is required, as well as hands-on competence with Linux, PostgreSQL, Helm, Terraform, ArgoCD, CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions or Jenkins), and observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Fluent Bit, or OpenTelemetry. Professional working proficiency in English is essential. Experience with HiveMQ or other enterprise MQTT platforms is highly desirable, while background in major cloud providers, API management, KEDA, Envoy Gateway, or enterprise integration platforms is advantageous.
Platform Engineer – Kafka & Integration Platform
Telge Consulting is looking for two experienced Platform Engineers specializing in integration and messaging platforms for assignments within a large enterprise environment.
You will work with business-critical integration platforms used by multiple development teams. The role combines platform engineering, DevOps, automation and operational responsibility, with a strong focus on Apache Kafka, Kubernetes and HiveMQ.
About the role
As a Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for building, operating and continuously improving scalable and secure integration platforms. You will work according to a "you build it – you run it" approach and take end-to-end responsibility for platform stability, automation, security and performance.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Design, deploy and maintain Apache Kafka environments on Kubernetes using Strimzi or similar technologies
- Operate and administer Kafka clusters and enterprise HiveMQ MQTT brokers
- Manage Kafka Connect, topics, partitions, schemas, retention and cluster resources
- Plan and perform platform upgrades, patching and lifecycle management
- Design solutions for high availability, disaster recovery and cross-region replication
- Implement Kafka security including ACLs, SASL, OAuth/OIDC, mTLS and RBAC
- Develop and maintain Kafka Connectors for integration between legacy and cloud-based systems
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and ArgoCD
- Work with Infrastructure as Code and automated deployment using technologies such as Terraform and Helm
- Monitor platform health and performance using Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk and related observability tools
- Perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot complex production issues
- Provide Tier 3 support for issues related to Kafka, messaging, networking and platform performance
- Support Java/Spring Boot development teams with Kafka Producer/Consumer configuration and integration patterns
- Develop self-service solutions and automation for development teams
- Work closely with security, architecture and development teams
Required qualifications
We are looking for candidates with:
- 4–6 years of professional experience working with Apache Kafka
- Experience with Kafka platform administration, Kafka Connect and KRaft
- Experience with Strimzi or similar Kafka operators on Kubernetes
- 4–6 years of experience with Java and Spring Boot
- Strong experience with Kubernetes, preferably Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
- Experience with CI/CD using GitHub Actions and/or Jenkins
- Experience with ArgoCD
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, such as Terraform
- Experience with Helm
- Experience with Linux
- Experience with PostgreSQL
- Experience with observability technologies such as Grafana, Prometheus and Splunk
- Experience with Fluent Bit and/or OpenTelemetry
- Professional working proficiency in English
Experience with HiveMQ or other enterprise MQTT platforms is highly desirable.
Additional qualifications
It is advantageous if you have experience with:
- API Management platforms
