Power Trader

Ingrid Capacity AB · Stockholm · Tills vidare

Ingrid Capacity AB is recruiting a **Power Trader** to take operational ownership of trading algorithms optimizing battery energy storage systems (BESS) and renewable assets. Working across day-ahead, continuous intraday, and Nordic ancillary capacity auctions (FCR, aFRR, mFRR), the trader monitors live execution, tunes algorithmic parameters, and intervenes during market anomalies, grid events, or outages. The position involves reconciling trade outcomes, reporting on algorithm performance, managing day-to-day interactions with TSOs regarding settlements and imbalances, and collaborating with quant and engineering teams on new strategies. Crucially, the post involves **operational shift work**, including weekend coverage, to ensure algorithmic trading is monitored through all trading and delivery hours. Candidates must possess **2–5 years of operational experience** in European power trading, dispatch, balancing, or portfolio operations. A relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree—such as in engineering, finance, business, physics, or energy systems—or equivalent practical experience is required. Applicants need a solid understanding of wholesale power markets, Nordic ancillary services, BESS revenue mechanisms, and energy regulations including REMIT and BRP obligations. Programming capabilities, particularly in Python for analyzing algorithmic outputs and evaluating backtests, are considered a strong plus.

About us Ingrid was born out of a simple belief: the energy transition must move faster and work smarter. We're pioneers at the forefront of the global energy transition — pushing boundaries, turning bold ideas into reality, and solving the problems that matter most.

The INtelligent GRID of tomorrow needs to absorb and release more power. We develop, build and operate high-performance batteries — the lungs of modern energy infrastructure — enabling a more flexible and resilient energy supply across Europe. With 500 MW already deployed across the Nordics and rapid expansion into continental Europe, we manage, optimize and trade both our own assets and those of third parties through our sophisticated tech platform, making every battery — and the entire grid — stronger.

About the role

We’re growing our BESS and renewable trading team and looking for a power trader to take operational ownership of our trading algorithms across day-ahead auctions, Nordic ancillary capacity auctions, and the continuous intraday market. This is a hands-on, market-facing role: you’ll be the person monitoring the algorithms and trade execution, tuning parameters, and making sure our algorithms behave as intended in live markets, pairing strong market knowledge and technical fluency with disciplined execution — rather than building models from scratch.

You’ll also contribute to the development of new trading strategies and work in close cooperation with our Asset Management, Algo, Quant, and Engineering teams to keep trading activity aligned with the broader portfolio and technical roadmap.

The role requires operational shift work, including weekend coverage, to ensure our trading algorithms are monitored across all trading and delivery hours.
