Process Equipment Engineer - Furnace

Silex Microsystems AB · Järfälla · Tills vidare

Silex Microsystems AB is recruiting a **Process Equipment Engineer - Furnace** to join its Maintenance Engineering organization in Stockholm, reporting to the Maintenance Manager. Acting as the technical lead for equipment within the furnace area—which includes epitaxy, LPCVD, and thermal oxidation—the engineer bridges equipment maintenance and process engineering to secure high-temperature equipment health, reliability, and process repeatability. Key duties involve leading complex troubleshooting and root cause analyses of downtime events, guiding service technicians, developing preventive maintenance and equipment monitoring using SPC and KPIs, coordinating escalations with suppliers and internal teams, and ensuring safety requirements such as LOTO are met. Applicants must hold a **master’s degree** in materials science, chemistry, physics, mechanical engineering, electronics, or a related discipline, alongside **at least five years of relevant manufacturing experience** with strong equipment knowledge and an understanding of production processes. Competence in root cause analysis, data analysis, SPC, quality-control methods, and preventive maintenance systems is required, as is proficiency in English for technical documentation. Experience in semiconductor or MEMS manufacturing is an advantage, and Swedish language skills are highly meritorious. Prior to employment, candidates must complete personality and logic tests, reference checks, a background check, and a drug test.

As part of building our Maintenance Engineering organization, we are expanding our team with a Process Equipment Engineer focused on our Furnace Area. This is an opportunity to contribute to a technically advanced manufacturing environment and play an important part in strengthening our capabilities within the Furnace Area.

The team and the area

You will be part of the Maintenance Engineering organization and report to the Maintenance Manager. The Teams purpose is to provide technical leadership for assigned equipment and work closely with Team Managers, Service Technicians, Maintenance Engineers, Process Engineers, Area Managers, and external suppliers.

The Furnace Area is an important part of our production and includes advanced high-temperature processes such as epitaxy, Low-Pressure Chemical Vapor Deposition (LPCVD), and thermal oxidation. These processes are used to grow and deposit controlled material layers and to form high-quality oxide films, making stable temperature profiles, gas flows, pressure, and equipment conditions essential to product quality and process repeatability. You will bridge equipment maintenance and process engineering, using equipment data, process results, and production feedback to identify causes of instability, improve uptime and utilization, and ensure that technical actions are coordinated across teams.

About the role

As a Process Equipment Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical health, reliability, and continuous improvement of equipment within the Furnace Area. Equipment is your primary discipline, supported by process knowledge that enables effective fault analysis, improvement work, and close collaboration with Process Engineers.

You will act as the technical lead for the assigned equipment, guide service technicians, coordinate technical escalations, and lead root cause analyses of downtime events and recurring failures. You will also develop equipment monitoring and preventive maintenance, define relevant KPIs, contribute to equipment purchases and upgrades, and serve as a technical contact for suppliers.
