Decisive technical qualifications include **expert proficiency in C# and .NET**, strong experience with Windows desktop applications using WPF, as well as hands-on expertise in APIs, multithreading, and scripting with PowerShell, Python, or JavaScript. Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps, containerization, and AI coding assistants is expected, along with fluent written and spoken English for global collaboration. C++ experience is considered an added advantage.
Senior Software Developer - Network Control R&D - Job Summary
The R&D Network Control team is looking to onboard an expert Senior Software Developer at our development team located in Sweden. In this role you work in close collaboration with other developers, product owners, architects and testers. You will be developing the power grids of the future, creating software that is used in crucial infrastructure and real time. The product is designed to have a long life while also being very efficient and secure.
How you’ll make an impact
The Senior Software Developer handles designing, developing, and maintaining mission-critical software solutions that support electric utility transmission, distribution, generation, and market operations.
This role contributes to the development of scalable, secure, and high-performance applications within Hitachi Energy's Network Control portfolio, including SCADA, EMS, DMS, ADMS, WAMS, and related platforms.
As a senior technical contributor, the individual drives development and maintenance activities, ensures high-quality software delivery, and collaborates closely with Product Management, System Architects, Quality Assurance, and Customer Delivery teams. The role combines strong technical ability with customer-focused mindset to deliver reliable solutions for critical infrastructure.
Your Background
- University degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience in enterprise, high-performance, or mission-critical software environments.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments with cross-functional global teams.
- Experience working in fast passed environment, quickly adapts to changing priorities and business needs.
- Proven experience in identifying root causes of complex software issues and implementing sustainable corrective actions.
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Hands-on experience using AI-powered development tools to improve developer productivity and software quality.
- Comfortable working in customer-facing environments and taking part in technical discussions with customers and stakeholders.
Technical Competencies
- Expert proficiency in C# and .NET Framework/.NET platform development
- Experience with C++ development is an added advantage.
- Expertise in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, JavaScript
- Strong hands-on experience developing Windows desktop applications using WPF, Experience building rich client applications.
- Strong hands-on experience with WCF, REST APIs, Web Services, Inter-Process Communication and Message-based communication framework
- Strong knowledge of Multithreading, Asynchronous Programming, Process and Thread Synchronization, Performance Tuning and Optimization
- Experience working with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and architecture patterns (Microservices, SOA, Distributed System Architecture)
- Experience developing Application Domains (AppDomain), Cross-process communication, Native and managed code interaction, System-level and kernel-level API interaction.
- Experience with SQL/Oracle/PostgreSQL/Data Modeling/ Query Optimization / Database Performance Tunning
- Experience with File Handling, Serialization / Deserialization techniques
- Good understanding of unit and integration testing techniques and testing frameworks.
- Knowledge of non-functional requirements (performance, scalability, security).
- Proficiency with GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, AI coding assistants, and intelligent code generation tools.
- Hands on with working with static code analysis and security analysis tools, and software maintainability practices.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively across globally distributed teams.
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written is needed to effectively collaborate in global environment.
