Cytiva Sweden AB is seeking a **Research Engineer** for its Extractables & Leachables section within the Start to Finish department. This is a **temporary, on-site role** based in Uppsala, running from January 17, 2027 to July 16, 2027. The engineer focuses on analytical chemistry tasks supporting both new and existing product development projects throughout their lifecycle. Key responsibilities include planning, performing, and evaluating extractables and leachables analyses, conducting testing with GC-MS and other techniques, developing and troubleshooting methods, supporting analytical method validation, and documenting results according to established quality procedures while collaborating with cross-functional teams across R&D and Quality. Applicants must hold a **BSc or MSc in Analytical Chemistry**, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline, combined with relevant laboratory or industrial experience. Essential qualifications also include hands-on laboratory experience involving sample preparation, data analysis, and interpretation, as well as fluency in English. Previous hands-on experience with GC-MS, extractables and leachables testing in life sciences or medical applications, work in regulated QC environments, and familiarity with additional techniques for organic compound characterisation are considered advantageous.

We are currently looking for a Research Engineer to the Extractables & Leachables section in the Start to Finish department. In the role as Research Engineer, your focus will be on various analytical chemistry tasks, including method development and supporting in validation of analytical methods.
This position is a temporary role between January 17th, 2027 and July 16th, 2027, and will be an onsite role based in Uppsala, Sweden.
What you’ll do:
- Contribute to development projects for new and existing Cytiva products, providing analytical chemistry expertise throughout the product development and lifecycle process.
- Plan, perform and evaluate Extractables & Leachables (E&L) analyses for new and existing products using relevant analytical techniques.
- Perform analytical testing using GC-MS and other applicable analytical methods, including interpretation, evaluation and documentation of results.
- Develop, optimise and troubleshoot analytical methods to meet project and product requirements.
- Analyse and communicate experimental results, providing technical input and recommendations to project teams.
- Collaborate with colleagues across R&D, Quality and other cross-functional teams to support project objectives and product investigations.
- Document experimental work, methods and results in accordance with applicable quality procedures and ways of working.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- BSc or MSc in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related scientific discipline, combined with relevant laboratory or industrial experience.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory work, including sample preparation, analysis and interpretation of analytical data.
- Fluency in English.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Hands-on experience working with GC-MS.
- Extractables & Leachables (E&L) testing, including analysis of materials used in life science, pharmaceutical or medical-device applications.
- Working in a QC, regulated or quality-controlled laboratory environment.
- Additional analytical techniques relevant to characterisation of organic compounds.
