Explipro Group AB is recruiting a **Senior Developer (Java/Kotlin)** for a permanent role based in Gothenburg, Sweden. Working within a cross-functional agile team, the developer designs and optimizes cloud-native backend services and APIs for global connectivity solutions used by millions of daily users. Core responsibilities include implementing new features, establishing resilient microservice architecture, and translating complex business requirements into high-performance technical systems. The position requires working **100% on-site** at the customer's office every workday, with no option for remote arrangements. Applicants must have more than five years of professional backend development experience on the JVM platform using **Java and Kotlin**. Essential requirements include strong expertise in microservices, secure REST or GraphQL API design, Kafka, Postgres, and cloud environments using Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure, alongside professional fluency in English. Candidates currently residing in Sweden with an existing Swedish work permit and short notice period are highly prioritized. Familiarity with Swedish, monitoring tools such as Elasticsearch, Prometheus, and Grafana, CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions and Jenkins, and authentication solutions is desirable.
About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Backend Engineer to help build and optimize the next generation of cloud-native connectivity solutions. You will join a diverse, cross-functional team working in agile sprints, contributing to state-of-the-art backend services and APIs that power global digital services used by millions of customers daily. The job includes building brand-new features, setting the standard for resilient microservice design, and converting complex business requirements into high-performance technical solutions.
Requirements:
- +5 years of professional experience developing complex backend applications on the JVM platform using Java and Kotlin.
- Strong knowledge of microservices architecture, secure API design (REST/GraphQL), and hosting resilient services.
- Solid understanding of data streaming and databases, specifically Kafka and Postgres.
- Experience with automated workflows, containerization, and cloud environments using tools like Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure.
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written (Swedish is a major plus).
- Highly prioritized: Currently residing in Sweden with a valid, pre-existing Swedish work permit and available for a quick onboarding/short notice period.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with search and monitoring tools such as Elasticsearch (with APM), Prometheus, and Grafana.
- Familiarity with CI/CD automation tools like GitHub Actions and Jenkins.
- Understanding of authentication and authorization solutions, performance optimization, and using SLO/SLI to drive improvements.
Location: On-site in Gothenburg, Sweden. Please note that this specific assignment requires being 100% on-site at the customer's office every day of the workweek; remote work is not available.
