Markem-Imaje, through ANTS, is seeking a **Senior Embedded Software Engineer** to join its innovation and development hub in Gothenburg. Working in an international context within a small local team, the role focuses on developing the controller software powering the Print & Apply platform from concept to production. Respons ibilities include **hands-on coding close to hardware**—primarily in C++ within a Linux environment—troubleshooting code alongside motors, sensors, and electronics, and guiding key technical architecture decisions. The position also offers opportunities to work with Golang interfaces, C on FreeRTOS for motor control, and cross-functional hardware testing with electronics and mechanics teams. Applicants must hold at least a **bachelor's degree with significant software development experience**, though a master's degree is highly desired but not essential. The position requires senior-level embedded development experience predominantly in C++, a background in low-level programming, sensors, and motor control, as well as a basic understanding of physics. Experience programming in Go and prior work with Linux ARM processors are considered advantageous.

The Role
As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer at Markem-Imaje, you get to work at the heart of our Print & Apply platform, as part of a small team in an international context where ideas move quickly from discussion to implementation and everyone's technical input matters.
In this role, you will:
- Be directly involved in and influence important technical decisions for the development of our Print & Apply products.
- Work close to the hardware you are building software for, developing a system level understanding of how your code interacts with the motors, sensors, and electronics around it.
- Collaborate with the wider team, both locally and across the global organization, drawing on their experience while helping shape the direction of the products you work on.
What You Will Do
The role involves hands on coding, mainly in C++ in a Linux environment, developing the controller software that runs our Print & Apply products. You will work close to the hardware, from motors and sensors to the electronics that drive them, testing and troubleshooting your own code together with the team.
Beyond the core C++ development, you will have the possibility to:
- Develop interfaces in Golang.
- Develop motor control in C on FreeRTOS.
- Collaborate closely with the electronics and mechanics teams to test and troubleshoot hardware related issues.
- Take part in code reviews and contribute to improving the quality of the codebase together with the team.
What You Need To Have
- Bachelor's degree with significant professional experience developing software; a Master's degree is highly desired but not essential.
- Senior experience in embedded development, mainly in C++.
- Experience with low level programming, sensors, and motor control.
- Comfortable making technical decisions and driving development forward in collaboration with a small team in an international context.
- Basic understanding of physics, for example through relevant university education.
Experience with Go programming and previous work with Linux ARM processors would be advantageous.
