Luossavaara-Kiirunavaara Aktiebolag (LKAB) is seeking a **Senior Rock Engineer** for a **full-time, daytime position** based in Kiruna, starting as soon as possible. The role supports safe daily production and long-term expansion in Kiruna Mine, combining operational rock mechanics with strategic development. Responsibilities include developing and reviewing mine layouts, ground support strategies, and geotechnical designs, as well as collaborating on mine sequencing and geotechnical risk assessments. You will deliver day-to-day operational support through underground inspections, seismic monitoring, rehabilitation planning, and damage mapping, while also contributing rock mechanics expertise to prefeasibility studies and Life of Mine planning for mining below the current main haulage level alongside mine planners, geologists, and technical specialists. Applicants must hold a **bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant engineering or geoscience discipline** and possess experience in underground mining environments, specifically from **underground caving operations or similar mining methods**. A valid B driver's license and fluency in English, both written and spoken, are required. Additional merit is given to candidates with experience in seismic analysis, numerical modelling, or project management, as well as knowledge of Swedish. Your role

As a Rock Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring safe and reliable mining operations while supporting the long-term development of Kiruna Mine. You will work closely with mine planners, geologists, rock mechanics specialists, and other technical experts to provide geotechnical expertise for both current operations and future mine expansion projects. A significant part of the role involves contributing to prefeasibility studies for mining below the current main haulage level and helping to shape the future of underground mining.
