Kaisa Technologies AB is seeking a **Senior Software Engineer** to join its engineering team based in **Uppsala**. Working closely with Product and Engineering colleagues, the position focuses on designing, building, and evolving scalable backend services, APIs, and event-driven architectures. Responsibilities include making architectural decisions, exploring and integrating AI capabilities such as large language models and agentic workflows, and utilizing AI-assisted development tools to enhance software engineering processes. As a senior member of the team, the role also involves supporting and mentoring other engineers and translating business requirements into robust production solutions during standard business hours with flexible working arrangements. Applicants typically bring at least five years of professional backend experience, with demonstrated expertise in **Node.js and TypeScript** alongside a solid background in distributed microservices and API design. Required technical capabilities also include integrating LLM workflows and AI agents into production, hands-on experience with AWS, Terraform, and automated CI/CD pipelines, and familiarity with both SQL and NoSQL databases like MySQL, DynamoDB, and Redis. Strong communication, initiative, and mentoring skills are expected. A degree in computer science, AI, machine learning, or a related discipline is considered a plus, but **equivalent professional experience** is valued equally, with additional knowledge of Python and PHP also regarded as advantageous.
About the role
As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll play an important role in building and evolving our products. You’ll be part of a collaborative engineering team, working closely with Product and Engineering to solve interesting problems and help shape our technology as we grow.

What you'll do
You’ll design, build, and evolve scalable backend services, APIs, and event-driven systems. You’ll contribute to architectural decisions, help improve the quality and scalability of our technology, and work with the team to address technical challenges and opportunities.
You’ll also work closely with Product to turn business needs into technical solutions and help bring new ideas into production. A part of the role will be exploring and integrating AI capabilities, including LLMs and agentic workflows, as well as using AI tools to improve how we develop software.
As a senior member of the team, you’ll also support and mentor other engineers, contribute to technical discussions, and help create a collaborative environment where the team can do great work.
What we're looking for
You likely have 5+ years of professional backend experience, think carefully about architecture, and are genuinely curious about AI — while staying comfortable working across a broad range of domains and shifting priorities. More specifically:
- Backend Expertise: Strong experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
- Architecture & Microservices: Experience designing, building, and scaling distributed microservices and APIs.
- AI & LLMs: Experience working with AI agents and integrating LLM-based workflows into production systems.
- Cloud & Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with AWS, Terraform, and automated CI/CD pipelines.
- Database Management: Comfortable working with both SQL and NoSQL databases, such as MySQL, DynamoDB, and Redis.
- AI Development Tools: Experience using AI development tools to support and improve everyday engineering workflows.
- Experience with Python and PHP is considered a plus.
- A degree in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning or similar is a plus but equivalent experience counts just as much.
