Arrowhead Game Studios is seeking a **Senior UI Designer (Contractor)** to join the Helldivers 2 team in Stockholm. This is a full-time, 40-hour per week fixed-term contractor position for nine months, with an ideal start in January 2027 and a **hybrid setup possible**. In this role, you will lead the design and development of complex UI systems—ranging from in-combat HUDs to meta-game interfaces like the Galactic War, inventory, and social menus. Responsibilities span the complete workflow, including wireframing, prototyping, producing final art assets, mentoring team members, and collaborating closely with designers, artists, and engineers to ensure high performance and accessibility in a live-service game. Applicants must possess senior-level experience in a comparable games industry role on AA/AAA titles or co-op/live-service games. **Demonstrated end-to-end UI design experience** is required, along with a solid grasp of game UX principles, comfort working with UI middleware such as Noesis GUI, familiarity with standard design software like Figma or Adobe tools, and experience in Agile/Scrum settings. Fluent written and spoken English is essential. Candidates must already hold the right to work in Sweden and live in or near Stockholm, as visa and relocation sponsorship are not offered. Experience with proprietary engines such as Stingray, console certification conventions, accessibility design, and contractor workflows is considered advantageous.

We are looking for a Senior UI Designer to join the Helldivers 2 team. In this role, you will design, improve, and lead the development of intuitive, accessible, and immersive UI systems, spanning both the heat of combat and the meta game around it, from Galactic War and strategy planning to social and squad systems.
Your work will ensure clarity in and out of chaotic combat scenarios without breaking immersion.

As a Senior UI Designer, you will:
- Lead the design of complex, high-impact UI systems such as HUD, inventory management, strategy planning interfaces, or social menus.
- Drive the UI design workflow from wireframing and prototyping to creating art assets and supporting implementation within our current UI ecosystem.
- Collaborate closely with other UI and game designers, artists, and engineers to ensure cohesive and functional UI solutions.
- Ensure UI systems align with the overall creative vision in a live-service game.
- Optimize UI assets for performance, accessibility, and a seamless user experience.
- Contribute to UI-related discussions in design meetings and actively influence decision-making.
- Mentor and exchange knowledge with fellow UI designers.

Who you are:
We're looking for someone who is friendly and collaborative, but also hardworking, efficient, and dedicated to the game development craft! You thrive in a fast-paced environment and take ownership of your work.
- Senior level experience in a similar role within the games industry, for AA or AAA titles and/or for co-op or live-service games.
- Proven experience designing and implementing high-quality, intuitive UI systems, end to end, from wireframe to prototype to final art asset.
- A strong understanding of UX principles and best practices in game UI design.
- Comfortable working with UI middleware such as Noesis GUI.
- Familiar with design tools such as Figma, Illustrator, InDesign, or even Photoshop.
- The ability to work independently, take responsibility, and spot issues before they become problems.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments (kanban, standups, design reviews).
- Enjoys mentoring and knowledge-sharing.
- Strong communication skills with a cooperative attitude.
- Excellent written and spoken English skills.
Bonus points if you have:
- Experience with Stingray or a comparable proprietary engine.
- Console certification experience (PlayStation TRC / platform conventions).
- Accessibility design experience (colorblind modes, subtitle/HUD scaling, controller remapping).
- Have worked in a Contractor/Plug & Play model.
