H & M Hennes & Mauritz GBC AB is seeking a **Software Engineer** to join the Store Lens team, working on technical solutions for both Portfolio Brands and the H&M Brand. The role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining scalable **backend solutions for stores** within an agile, headless e-commerce environment. Key responsibilities include shaping APIs connecting backend systems to mobile applications, taking end-to-end technical ownership of initiatives from architecture through rollout, and mentoring colleagues through code reviews and technical guidance. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field (or possess equivalent experience), paired with 5–8 years of backend engineering experience that includes leading technical initiatives or mentoring engineers. The position requires **proficiency in C# and .NET**, hands-on Azure development including Azure Functions, familiarity with CI/CD via Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, containerization with Docker and Kubernetes, and database experience such as Cosmos DB. Job Description
As a key member of our team, you'll design, develop, and maintain backend solutions for our Stores. Working in an agile environment, you'll collaborate with product managers, business and frontend engineers to deliver high-quality, scalable software, driving initiatives from problem definition through rollout. The ideal candidate is passionate about backend development, has a track record of driving technical initiatives and making the team around them better, proficient in C# and .Net
WHAT YOU’LL DO
In addition to the above, your role will involve:
- Technical Leadership & Ownership: Taking end-to-end ownership of key initiatives — from architecture and design through delivery — setting technical directions and making the trade-off calls that keep the team moving.
- Mentorship & Force Multiplication: Actively raising the technical level of the team through code reviews, pairing, and design discussions; unblocking colleagues and making the people around you more effective, not just shipping your own code.
- API Design: Shaping the design and implementation of APIs that facilitate seamless communication between the Mobile Application and backend, ensuring an efficient flow of data in the headless ecommerce environment.
- Azure Cloud: Leveraging your expertise in Azure Cloud services to enhance the scalability, reliability, and performance of our backend systems, ensuring a seamless integration with our headless ecommerce applications.

WHO YOU ARE
We are looking for people with…
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience), and at least 5-8 years of experience as a Software Engineer with backend focus, including demonstrated experience leading technical initiatives, mentoring engineers, or acting as a technical lead on a team.
- Proficiency in C# and .NET.
- Proficiency in Azure concepts and native development using Azure functions.
- Experience in concept as Always up and message queuing.
- Experience of CI/ CD pipelines using Azure DevOps / GitHub Actions.
- Experience of containerization technologies like Kubernetes and Docker.
- Experience in Database (e.g. Cosmos Db).
- Experience in POS, Payment and Checkout area is a plus.
- Experience in SignalR is a plus.

- Continuous learning mindset to stay updated on emerging trends and technologies.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment and communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail A track record of conducting code reviews, identifying areas of improvement, and providing constructive feedback to maintain code quality and consistency across a team, not just their own work.
- Familiarity in backend testing with a focus on ensuring the reliability and performance of backend systems.
- Familiarity with Agile development.
- Comfort operating with ambiguity — able to take a loosely defined problem and shape it into a concrete technical plan.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
